The art therapy sessions
When words are difficult to express, when traumas are unspeakable, art therapy helps us heal our wounds, by putting movement back where everything stopped!

What is art therapy?
Art therapy uses the process of artistic creation to highlight the individual's unconscious problems, conflicts or contradictions and lead them to a positive transformation of themselves.
During the artistic creation process, the individual will naturally, or is invited to, use symbolic expression to express what he feels or what he is experiencing at the present moment. This access to symbolization will allow him to express things of which he is not yet aware and/or that he cannot yet express through words. Whatever the problems, the discomfort or disturbances that they cause in human behavior are often perceived as something vague, indefinable. The only thing we are sure of when we decide to consult is that we do not feel well.
By offering the individual the opportunity to take action through artistically mediated exercises, we give them the opportunity to access their inner world in ways other than reflection. We thus offer the individual the opportunity to engage with their entire being in the expression of their feelings and to be the actor of their therapy.
It is not uncommon to witness radical awareness in this first part of the work, or even a hint of reconstruction in the expression of the person's desire, conscious or unconscious, to "repair their wounds" or to "give themselves love" in a symbolic way.
In the second part of the work, which consists of observing the "object" created, the person is asked to verbalize their feelings. Through a dialogue game, the art therapist guides the patient towards a better understanding of what was expressed, willingly or not, through the creative act. In no case does the art therapist interpret the created work; he guides the individual so that he can find the meaning he gives to his creation.
Art therapy can use various media (gouache, charcoal, Indian ink, pencils, felt-tip pens, etc.) and artistic techniques (painting, drawing, collage, modeling, dance, body expression, music, theater, puppets, photography).
You do not need to have artistic talent to attend an art therapy workshop or see an art therapist.
