For 69% of French people (in “Francoscopie”, G. Mermet, Larousse 1999) it would seem that self-love is the sine qua non condition of loving others. Indeed, how can one love others if one does not love oneself?
Learning to love yourself unconditionally could be the story of a lifetime, but loving yourself already can be the beginning of a new life. And yet, the little child, until a certain age, knows this unconditional love, for himself, the other and the world around him . He does not judge, until he is judged and taught to do the same, towards himself and his neighbor. Then he begins to learn rejection and self-loathing, distancing himself from his emotions and his light diminishes. Little HP, hypersensitive or empath, who were you before people pointed out your difference, told you are too much, too sensitive, too touchy, too fast, too direct, too frank...?
It is sometimes difficult for you to explain to your friends or your partner that you prefer to stay quiet rather than go out for a drink in a noisy place or to set your limits with a friend who abuses your natural listening skills and pesters you all day long with her struggles and negativity.
This uneasiness also that you feel when you arrive in the cafeteria of your workplace and you feel this heavy energy even before hearing that colleagues are gossiping about another colleague in her absence... So many situations that are more or less familiar to you.
It's hard to explain to those around you that your senses are highly developed and that you perceive atmospheres, people, and sometimes even what they might think of you because you decipher non-verbal information better than average.
Feeling different, feeling out of place and having trouble finding your place can be very painful .
